Food, Nutrition and Health
To keep body healthy, people should obtain enough nutrition. These
nutritions include: Protein, Energy, Minerals, Vitamins. They be
taken in appropriate ratio.
Almost all nutrition people needed come from food. Eating balanced
food is very improtant. According to the UK National Food Guide,
foods are classified into five groups: Bread, other cereals and
potatoes; Fruit and vegetable; Meat, fish and alternatives (such
as bean and nut); Milk and Dairy foods; Fatty and Sugary foods.
How many quantities of foods should be eaten denpends on a person's
situation. But roughly, for everyone except for children under the
age of 2, including vegetarians, the foods in each group should
be taken in following ratio:
Bread, other cereals and potatoes (5 portions or more)
Milk and dairy products (2 - 3 portions)
Fruit and vegetables (5 or more portions)
Meat, fish and alternatives(2- 3 portions)
Foods containing fat. Foods containing sugar (keep these to minimum)
